In this webinar, members of BIAA’s Brain Injury Advisory Council will draw upon their 130 combined years of experience as survivors. Their goal is to help others live their best life possible after brain injury. Topics covered include Brain Fatigue, Overload; Not Knowing Your Limits, Loss of Identity, Denial, Difficulty Expressing Yourself, Coping with Family Members/Friends Who Do Not Understand Brain Injury, and Finding and Getting Appropriate Care. National Center on Advancing Person-Centered Practices and Systems wEBINAR
October 2021: Kelly Lang was a faculty member of the National Center on Advancing Person-Centered Practices and Systems’ Brain Injury Collaborative. The Collaborative brought together representatives from 15 states to work towards improving systems for brain injury individuals. A group of survivors met monthly to discuss their experience working on teams and developed a webinar “Better Together”. The webinar demonstrated how project leaders can engage people with the lived experience of brain injury and those with the lived experience of disability will learn ways to be successful when participating in team projects. Virginia General Assembly Budget Hearings
January 5, 2022: Kelly Lang provided testimony to the Virginia General Assembly Budget Hearings on January 5, 2022. Kelly’s statement explained why she supported an increase in state funds to support additional funds to hire adult and pediatric case managers in areas of the state where services are lacking. Kelly also urged the Assembly to approve additional funding to hire Housing Coordinators for the state agencies to assist individuals with brain injuries in locating housing opportunities.
